It’s only fitting that the first project was “Light”. It got man out of the dark and you’re obviously trying to find your way out of something too… You lost honey? Need a candle? A match or two?

wowee… a bit of time has passed.

I was struggling to workout the direction of this months project. Am I creating light? Learning about the physics of light? Both? Neither?… My notes just say “LIGHT”

Reading this is technically light too… damn. Stay tuned.

Obviously you struggled to find the direction. No use studying light if you can’t see what you’re trying to illuminate.

YIKES! LAST DAY AND ALL WE HAVE IS A RANDOM RENDER, SOME VIDEOS FROM YOUTUBE AND A SHITTY SENTENCE ABOUT THE DIRECTION OF THIS MONTH’S PROJECT.

I HAD SOME TIME TO THINK, AS WELL AS SOME TIME TO PRODUCE MORE SHITTY BLOCK/LAMP RENDERS & NO CONTEXT LIGHT PHYSICS VIDEOS. (THE ORIGINAL IDEA WAS TO MAKE A LAMP BUT THEN I REALISED THERE’S SO MUCH MORE TO TALK ABOUT THAN JUST A LAMP.. ILL PROBABLY STILL MAKE IT, MAYBE IN LIGHT PART II, there’s a light part II??

THIS MONTH MIGHT NEED TO BE FINISHED LEARNING ABOUT WHAT LIGHT IS TO THE INDIVIDUAL. IN THIS CASE, ME.

I WOKE UP AN HOUR AGO, LETS SPEND THE LAST DAY DOCUMENTING MY LIGHT, SOUND FUN? NO? THATS OK.

Good save, you pulled it back with this one. I was about to roast you but you did it yourself.

3 HOURS LEFT. LETS KEEP GOING.

a science, a constant, memory, time, space & geometry. a philosophy, religion & a necessity to life.

You forgot a few. Light is warmth, it’s clarity, it’s the little voice in your head that says “it’s not that dark, keep walking”. It’s direction & indirection.

And to the blind, it’s Love.

THATS ROUGHLY LIGHT TO ME.

MIGHT BE A BIT TO UNPACK IN A MONTH.

I BEGAN TO FORGET WHERE THIS JOURNEY OF LIGHT STARTED. THE DEEPER I DOVE IN I FORGOT ABOUT THE THINGS THAT ALSO CAST IT’S ABSCENCE.

I think you meant to say. “I forgot about the thing that can cast it’s presence.”

I’ll let you off though, only because your photos are pretty and you are clearly using them to elude to a greater observation of how light can be cast in different settings.

THE LAMP!

IT STARTED WHEN I PICKED UP THESE POSTERS FROM A TRENDY SUBURB IN MELBOURNE. THEY WERE EITHER GOING ON THE WALL, OR GETTING RE-PURPOSED FOR ONE OF THESE MONTHLY PROJECTS.

TURNS OUT I KIND OF ALMOST MADE SOMETHING THIS MONTH. SO WAS IT A SUCCESS?
THE GOAL FOR THE MONTH WAS “LIGHT”. I HINTED AT SOMETHING INTERESTING, THEN WENT INTO A SERIES OF VIDEOS IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER, INTO A RANT ON LIGHT WITH NO CONTEXT IMAGERY TO BACK IT UP.

I WAS HOPING TO ATLEAST BUILD A PHYSICAL PROTOTYPE OF THIS, THE FIRST COUPLE OF RENDERS WERE’NT EVEN MADE THIS MONTH, AND THE GEOMETRY IS ‘ONE OF THE FIRST ONES’ BUT ALAS IT’S MIDNIGHT AND NEXT MONTH IS ONE OF THE FUN ONES… MARCH.

Fuck, would it kill you to experiment with some different forms at least?

Or even work out whether your lamp is housing an object that lights up, or whether it’s built in? What’s the light source? How is it powered? Is it portable? An extension on to something else?

Are the posters just one iteration? Can it be any picture? How are you getting the pictures in there?

Just a few questions I thought I would end this month on for you.

Might help light up the way a bit…
